Harry Potter /Game of Thrones
Who said literature was dull?
Join Professor Emily Sendin as she brings literature to life in her Introduction to Literature:
From Harry Potter to Game of Thrones Course! 

Professor Emily Sending will offer an opportunity for MDC students to enroll in LIT 2000- Introduction to Literature that will explore in England, Ireland, Northern Ireland and Scotland through a literary lens. The program is designed for students with interests in all areas of literature and humanities (music, theatre, dance, art, film, literature, poetry, philosophy, history, aesthetics, religion). This introduction to literature course examines different literary genres and explores differences and similarities between form and content from print to stage and to screen.

In order to apply, you must meet the participant requirements below:
At least 18 years of age
A minimum 2.5 GPA
A minimum of 12 college credits completed
A minimum of one semester of college completed
Not in violation of student code of conduct

Good standing at MDC at the time of application:
Clear of academic probation or other academic holds
Clear of financial default
Clear of disciplinary violations


This program will take you to England, Scotland, Ireland, and Northern Ireland. 

Program dates: 
The program will take place during Summer A:
Sessions prior to travel date: May 13 - May 24, 2018 at InterAmerican Campus
Classes Abroad: May 30 - June 10, 2018
          Day 1: Overnight to England
          Day 2-5: London, England
          Day 6-8 Edinburgh, Scotland
          Day 8-10: Belfast, Northern Ireland
          Day 11-12: Dublin, Ireland
Post travel sessions: June 10 - June 22, 2018

Estimated price: $2,990.00
The cost of the program for each student includes roundtrip airfare, ground and land transportation, a full-time tour director, hotel accommodations, some meals, sightseeing tours, and entrance to historical and cultural sites.  Miami Dade College tuition, passport and visa fees are additional.

Professor profile:
Professor Emily A. Sendin will teach the course. Professor Emily Sendin currently teaches literature, composition, reading, and leadership at the InterAmerican Campus for the Communication, Arts, and Philosophy department as well as The Honors College and Virtual College. Professor Emily Sendin is also completing her 17th year as full-time faculty, is an Endowed Teaching Chair, and Fulbright Scholar.
